SCAN Public Talk: Jackie Bannon of The Bowling Club

Seniors Climate Action Network is showcasing local projects and organisations that work towards a more sustainable future. The next free public talk is by Jackie Bannon from ‘The Bowling Club’ 24th June, 12 noon, at the Dunedin Public Library, 4th Floor Dunningham Suite:

Jackie co-founded 'The Bowling Club' with her partner Liam in 2022. It's not actually a bowling club. It's a community-based eatery that addresses food insecurity and social isolation in a way that is accessible to everyone. At the Bowling Club we encourage people to bring their own bowls, and we fill them up with wholesome meals for $4. We feed around 1,000 people each night we're open, and we currently share about 600 free meals each week around Ōtepoti. On June 24th, Jackie will share the Bowling Club's journey (from spontaneous food caravan to community-driven eatery), including the business’s inspiration, challenges, and dreams.
